Police are reminding residents to keep their doors locked this summer to prevent crime.
This latest crime prevention advice comes after two homes were targeted overnight by opportunist thieves in Cramlington.
Now officers are reminding residents not to risk a break-in by keeping all doors and windows locked.
Cramlington Neighbourhood Inspector Pam Bridges said: “We want to remind people to make sure that doors and windows are always kept securely locked.
“It is also important to remind family members including children to ensure porches, windows and doors are not left open or unlocked when the room is unoccupied or overnight. If windows are being left open make sure they are not left wide open and can be locked in place.
“Taking a few moments to consider whether homes are secure could prove crucial in helping prevent someone from being broken into.”
