A HAIRDRESSER in Bedlington has won through to the national final of a major competition.
Louise Bainbridge, who works at Chic Hair Salon in Front Street West, has secured a place in the Student of the Year 2011 Hairdressing Council Awards.
The competition, run in association with L’Oréal Professional and VTCT, reach the national event with a win at the regional final at Jewel and Esk College in Edinburgh.
There she fought off stiff competition but won with a maximum score of 87 points out after she was challenged to create a new and innovative look.
Louise said: “Winning was great, and certainly unexpected. I just planned to enjoy the day, so coming first was fantastic.”
Louise has recently completed her hairdressing NVQ level 3 diploma and her college tutor signed her up for the competition immediately after.
Chic Hair Salon owner Natasha Watson said: “In the short time Louise has been with Chic, she has become one of the most talented young stylists I have seen and I am thrilled she has won.
“And I have every confidence Louise will do well in the national final.”
The national final will be held on October 16 at the Excel in London.
