A NEW vice president has been elected to Age UK Northumbreland.
Madeleine Elliott will have special responsibility for Age UK Northumberland’s engagement with the Years Ahead Partnership Board (Regional Forum on Aging), and the North East Dementia Alliance.
Madeleine was a registered Nurse in the NHS, and has been a trustee for ten years, the last six as chairman, before standing down in October last year.
She said: “I am delighted to have been appointed to the post, as I wanted to retain the contact I have with the charity on retiring from heading up the trustee board.
“Since giving up my nursing career, I have been keen to keep building my input into care of the elderly, and didn’t want to sit at home with no outside interests.
“I chose to do voluntary work where I could use my experience and qualifications looking after the elderly and mentally ill.
“Age UK Northumberland is now under the steer of a solid mix of social care experts and people with real business expertise.
“Working with the charity is my interest and my social life.
“I am passionate about providing high quality care, and our service through dedicated staff and volunteers, is just that. “
