Major housing plans for site next to station
An application has been lodged for hundreds of new homes on the outskirts of Cramlington.
The Homes and Communities Agency is seeking outline approval to build up to 501 residential properties and it has also submitted a detailed proposal for a wildlife mitigation area at the site, which is located to the north west of West Hartford Fire Station.
The applicant’s planning statement says that the increased population as a result of the development would support the local economy, including shops, services and employment. In addition, there would be some affordable housing in the scheme and 2.5 hectares of new open and recreational space for the residents and wider community.
He adds: ‘Access to the A1/A19 is already a nightmare in the early morning, what plans are there to take the extra vehicles into account?’
Michelle Hedley’s submission includes the following: ‘Bearing in mind that our current infrastructure is already beyond capacity, whether it be school places, parking facilities at Manor Walks, doctor/patient places and so on, it would be foolhardy to seriously consider yet another development without addressing any of these concerns’.
