Residents looking to get their affairs in order are being offered the chance to support a charity.
June sees the return of St Oswald’s Make a Will Month with members of the public able to support the charity and it’s hospice.
Participating solicitors – including Carr & Co Solicitors in Stanley Street, Blyth – will charge £90 for a single will or £125 for a pair and the full fee is donated to St Oswald’s Hospice.
Janice McConnell, from Blyth, updated her will through Make a Will Month last year.
She said: “I had never made a will and it had been on my ‘to do list’ for quite a while.
I had supported St Oswald’s Hospice for a number of years, having learned about their vital services in my role of treasurer of the Northern Lymphodema Support Group.
“As a supporter, I was invited to an event at the Hospice, where there was a talk about the importance of making a will.
“I learned that through Make a Will Month, I could instruct a local solicitor to make my will, who would donate the fee I paid straight back to the Hospice.
“The whole process was really straightforward. I am delighted I have sorted my will.”
“I also made the decision to leave a Legacy Gift to them in my Will.
“It gives me peace of mind to know my gift will still make a difference, even when I am no longer here.”
Laura Hargreaves, from the St Oswald’s Fundraising Team, said: “Making a Will is one of the most important things you can do for those you love.
“By writing a will you can ensure that, on your death, your affairs will be in order, your loved ones will be taken care of and your wishes will be followed.
“By supporting make a Will Month or pledging to leave a Legacy Gift, you are helping St Oswald’s Hospice continue to be there for local people who need us, both now and into the future.”
