Man arrested after Shields garden robbery


A man has been arrested after a robbery in South Tyneside.

The incident happened at 1.45pm on Thursday when a 26-year-old man was in the garden of a house in High Road, South Shields.

He was approached by a man who tried to punch him and then grabbed him by the coat and stole cash from his pocket.

The man then ran off towards Harton Technology College in Lisle Road.

Northumbria Police say a 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

It’s believed those involved are known to each other.
