Man arrested after stolen quad bikes recovered in Northumberland

Two Honda quads were reported stolen from a shed at the farm at Chathill between 7.30pm on Friday, and 7am on Saturday.

Both were fitted with tracker devices which were activated and led officers to their whereabouts.

One quad was recovered just after 1pm on Saturday, near the lake at Earth Balance in West Sleekburn, Bedlington. By 9pm the same day, the second quad bike was found at an address in Newbiggin.

Police have arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of theft and inquiries are continuing.

Neighbourhood Inspector Liz Hall said: "We want to remind quad bike owners of the benefits of taking crime prevention precautions to safeguard their valuable property.

"We know that farmers and other rural businesses rely on their quads everyday to look after stock and manage their land. Our advice is don't make it easy for thieves to steal your quads.

"Do consider fitting a tracker-style device, many insurers will also give you a discount on your premiums for using one.

"If you see someone acting suspiciously around your property report it straightaway."
