A man was assaulted and a police car damaged during an incident.

Police were called to the Station Lounge Bar on Woodhorn Road in Ashington in the early hours of Sunday, May 22 at 1.54am following reports of a disturbance.

They found a member of staff had been assaulted suffering facial injuries.

While officers were dealing with the incident, an offender caused substantial damage to the marked Vauxhall Astra car, which was parked nearby, outside the front of the Iceland food store on Woodhorn Road.

The officers investigating the assault are appealing for witnesses and they also want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the police car being damaged.

Police are appealing for witnesses anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police.
