Man assaulted in Blyth

Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault outside the Blyth and Tyne pub last Saturday night.

A 41-year-old man was standing outside the establishment on Seaforth Street, after going there to smoke. He was assaulted between 11.45pm and 11.59pm.

He was taken by paramedics to the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital near Cramlington.

Following treatment for head and facial injuries, he was released from hospital.

Any witnesses, or anyone who was in the pub or the nearby area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious, should call police on 101 – quoting reference number 901 of 16/10/16 – or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
