Man denies murder of missing woman

A man from south east Northumberland has denied the murder of a Hexham woman whose body has never been found.

Janet Brown has not been seen since 2005.

She was 45 when she went missing, and was last living in the Hexham area.

Donald Graham, of Elsdon Avenue, Seaton Delaval, pleaded not guilty to murder when he appeared at Newcastle Crown Court.

The 59-year-old also denied two counts of obtaining a money transfer by deception and 13 counts of fraud.

Graham appeared in court alongside Elizabeth Todd, 51, also of Elsdon Avenue, who denies charges of forgery, conspiracy to commit fraud and perverting the course of justice.

She was granted conditional bail but Graham was remanded in custody.

Both will go on trial in May.
