A man has been jailed for more than five years after an armed robbery in Northumberland.
Dean James Bradshaw, armed with a knife, went into Chisolm Bookmakers, in Seaton Delaval, on January 5 where he demanded cash and made threats to staff before making off.
The 26-year-old, of Main Street, Seghill, was arrested and charged with robbery and possessing an offensive weapon.
He appeared before Newcastle Crown Court on Wednesday, April 13, where the prison sentence was handed down.
After the hearing, Detective Inspector Sharon Chatterton said: “Although no one was injured during the robbery, staff were understandably left shaken after a frightening experience for them.
“The sentence passed by the court now mean a dangerous offender is behind bars for a significant period of time and Northumberland is a safer place for it.
“This should be a warning to others that we will use every tool at our disposal to arrest offenders and have them put before the courts to ensure the community is protected from their criminal activity.”
