Man suffers serious injuries after being hit by van

A man was airlifted to hospital after being struck by a van.

Emergency teams were called to outside the old fire station, in Cowpen Road, Blyth, just before 6pm on Monday.

A 43-year-old man had been struck by a black Ford Transit.

He suffered serious head and leg injuries and was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

He is currently in the RVI in a stable condition.

Enquiries are ongoing and police are appealing for witnesses to the collision.
