A Bedlington mother who offered endless support to her daughter and granddaughter after a family bereavement has been named the ‘Most Magnificent Mam’ in a Mother’s Day competition.
Margaret Tait, 56, was awarded the prestigious title by Manor Walks Shopping and Leisure in Cramlington, after daughter Marie nominated her.

In her nomination, Marie described how Margaret was her rock after she lost her fiancé last September, staying with both her and her eight-year-old daughter, Brooke, for months afterwards and taking time off from her own job to allow Marie to return to work.
Marie said: “It was a real surprise to find out mum had been named Manor Walks’ Most Magnificent Mam.
“She has done everything for me and my daughter, Brooke, these past few months and I don’t know what we would have done without her.
“When I told mum she couldn’t believe all the wonderful prizes she had won and was very emotional.
“She had a wonderful Mother’s Day and eight family members came along with us to the meal at Prezzo, which was wonderful and a rare opportunity to gather all of the family together.”
Amongst her prizes, Margaret received a Nomination charm bracelet with an 18-carat yellow gold heart charm from The Jewellers Guild, a No.7 pamper pack from Boots, champagne and a bouquet of flowers from M&S Simply Food, a three-course meal for two at Prezzo, tickets to Vue Cinema and £20 gift cards from Dunelm and Wilko.
Manor Walks’ general manager, Bruno Coppola, said: “Mams should be rewarded all year round for their endless love and hard work, and it was clear to see Margaret was very deserving of the title of Most Magnificent Mam.
“We hope she enjoys her well-earned goodies specially selected from a range of our centre’s retailers. Our annual Mother’s Day competition continues to remain a key way in which we are able to reward our loyal customers.”
