Police in Ashington are helping cyclists keep thieves at bay by carrying out marking across the town.
Around 100 bikes and scooters have been security marked by the town’s Police Community Support Officers in the town centre, Newbiggin, Lynemouth and North Seaton.
The marking events have been held in partnership with local schools and Neighbourhood Watch schemes.
Ashington neighbourhood inspector Barrie Joisce, said: “Security marking is a great way to deter thieves but it also means if the bike is lost or stolen and recovered by police, the marking can be used to identify the rightful owner.
“By taking simple steps to ensure your bike is safe and secure you can reduce your risk of falling victim to thieves.”
