A project to erect memorial walls of honour across south east Northumberland has received more than £12,000 in funding.
The Royal British Legion Newbiggin and North Seaton branch has received £12,800 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for the Memorial Walls of Honour project.
Led by volunteers from the Royal British Legion and members of the local community, the project will ensure the names of those who lost their lives during the First and Second World Wars have a permanent place in the Memorial Park in Newbiggin.
Work will start in April with a dedication ceremony planned for May 10.
Keith Laws, county chairman of The Royal British Legion Northumbria, said: “We are thrilled to have received the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund.
“We are confident the project will enable all the residents of Newbiggin to show their pride in their town heritage.”
