Missing windsurfer dies off Northumberland coast

A WINDSURFER who was rescued from the sea at Blyth today by helicopter has died.

Lifeboats from Blyth and Cullercoats along with the Blyth Coastguard rescue team had been called out to the incident today, after people walking their dogs on the beach first saw the casualty in difficulty and contacted the coastguard.

A helicopter from RAF Boulmer took the man to Wansbeck Hospital where he was prounounced dead on arrival.

Enquiries are ongoing and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
