Mobile phone stolen in street robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses to a street robbery in Blyth.

It happened between 6.20pm and 6.45pm on Saturday, October 8, just off Newsham Road.

A 17-year-old male was walking along the cut known locally as Joe Percy going towards Newsham Road when he was approached by a man with a knife, who threatened him and demanded his phone.

The offender stole the phone, a Samsung Galaxy Edge mobile, before making off towards the sports centre.

The teenager was shaken but otherwise unhurt.

The offender is described as being a white man, 6ft tall and having a medium build with a local accent. He was wearing a black hooded jumper with the hood up.
