Motorcyclist dies after coming off bike in Stakeford

A Twenty-eight-year-old man has died after a motorbike accident in Stakeford.

The man, who has not yet been named, suffered serious head injuries in the accident in a rear lane of Gordon Terrace on Wednesday.

He was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle where he later died as a result of his injuries.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Officers are in the process of informing his next of kin and he will not be identified until they have done so.”

Police are appealing for information about the accident, which happened at 6.10pm on Wednesday, July 10.

It is not yet known why the man came off his machine.

The rear lane was closed for around three hours to allow officers to investigate and recover the motorbike.
