A Bedlington mum boosted the fight against dementia on the Alzheimer’s Society Tyneside Memory Walk.
Vikkie Everard headed to the Gateshead Quayside for the fundraising event with her two young children to raise money for the charity and raise awareness of the disease.
“I’ve got personal experience of dementia which is why I’m determined to do my bit to make a difference,” said Vikkie.
‘We’re here for my grandma who had Alzheimer’s who died when she was 96 so she was a good age but it was still heart-breaking to see dementia hit the family because it’s devastating.
“It was really hard seeing her go downhill.”
Vikkie was joined at the walk, which attracted 2,500 fundraisers, by three-year-old son Chase and daughter Chloe, six.
