A group of music lovers in the area, including keen pianist Alan Coxon, who is the instigator and driving force behind the activity, have arranged a series of short classical concerts at Elsdon Avenue Church.

The series runs from January until May, and the third instalment takes place on Sunday.

The New Generation artists event will see a musical selection box of the top students in the area, who will be the next generation of virtuoso performers, featuring clarinettists, pianists and singers.

Organiser Alan Coxon said: “As a keen pianist myself I get great pleasure from seeing other people appreciating beautiful music.

“We have such a wealth of talent in the region that I wanted to put these concerts together for local people to include well-known musicians, as well as brilliant students.

“We’re now all ready to go so we’re now looking for as many people as possible to come along, sit back, relax and enjoy the music.”

The event starts at 3pm. Tickets are £4 and can be bought in advance at or by calling 0191 237 6116.
