After competing in and winning a number of local dance competitions, Savannah Houlden of Cramlington went one step further as she was successful at the National Dance Championships in Blackpool.
She competed across the three dance sections – Modern Sequence, Ballroom and Latin – and danced fantastically well over the course of the weekend, making the final six competitors in every category.
To round off a great competition, she finished in first place in the Latin section to become the 2017 U10 British Samba champion.
Savannah, who recently celebrated her 10th birthday, started off doing ballet and tap and since the age of five, she has developed skills in various styles at the N-GAGE Performance Academy in Bedlington. She also does speech and drama and musical theatre at the academy.
This was her first solo competition for a long time as she had previously been in a partnership for over a year.
Savannah receives plenty of support from parents Steve and Nicola and wider family. She attends Shanklea Primary School in Cramlington.
