NETBALL players will be on the ball in the future thanks to some expert coaching from the most capped player in the country.
Ex-England captain and the current coach for Team Northumbria Tracey Neville spent a day at Bede Academy in Blyth, helping students perfect their game.
In only their second season the Academy’s teams have enjoyed considerable success with the Year 10s in a strong position to win the league.
The twin sister of Everton captain and former England player Phil Neville, Tracey put 35 Year 7-10 players through their paces in a netball master class.
The session worked on attacking techniques and ball skills culminating in a series of matches.
Tracey said: “Netball isn’t too strong in the North East so it is great to see young players with such enthusiasm for the game.”
The session follows a visit by Bede students to Northumbria University, whose netball team plays in the Super League.
Bede Academy PE teacher Laura Street added: “Our players have shown a lot of commitment to the sport and with Tracey’s help should really be able to up their game at the end of a great season.”
