New charity shop in need of new volunteers

A CHARITY urgently needs volunteers to help it prepare for its new shop, which opens in Ashington later this month.

The large St Oswald’s Hospice store will need up to 30 enthusiastic volunteers to help prepare it for its grand opening, including accepting and sorting donations for display.

Once open, volunteers will help across all areas including serving the customers and working on the tills.

Shop manager Elaine Hold said: “It’s a really exciting time to join the team and see the shop open to become part of the local community.

“Volunteers are currently needed at all times during the week with days and hours to suit.

“Experience is desirable, but not essential as full training is provided and travel expenses can also be reimbursed.

“If you’ve a spare few hours, and would like to make a real difference to your local community, please get in touch as soon as possible – we’d love to hear from you.”

St Oswald’s Hospice provides free specialist care for adults with life limiting illnesses including cancer and motor neurone disease. It also offers specialist short breaks for children and young people with progressive, life shortening conditions, and their families.
