A care home has created a new social club to help establish links and tackle loneliness in the community.
Astor Court and Lodge View care home, in Cramlington, will host the Silver Social once a month at the home in Lamb Street.
It will feature a varied programme of activities and entertainment, with community groups, organisations and charities invited to attend.
Attendees can sign up to be notified by post, telephone or email with details of the next gathering.
Richard Dobinson, activities coordinator at Astor Court and Lodge View, said: “No matter your age it’s always fun to try something new so we like to offer a wide range of activities, entertainment and events for our residents.”
“We thought that launching the ‘Silver Social’ would be an excellent way for residents to meet new people and also provide a great way for those in our community to make new friends and socialise while enjoying some activities and entertainment that they may otherwise not be able to experience.”
