A man who grew up in Blyth has set-up a new care company specialising in helping older people so that they can continue living in their own homes.
In addition to his roles in social services, where he has helped people to access the best support, Guy Kirk was also a senior lecturer in social work at Northumbria University and has written a number of academic publications on the subject.
Home Instead Senior Care will provide home care to clients in areas such as Ashington, Blyth and Cramlington and it is looking to create at least 50 new jobs for local people.
Having experienced care both professionally and then personally when his grandfather needed support, Guy decided that now was the time to establish the company.
