An open day has taken place to engage the community in revised designs for a new building.
Designs are on display for the planned new council building in Front Street, Newbiggin, until January 12, at the town’s sports and community centre.
Arch, in partnership with Northumberland County Council, will develop the new facility to contain the council’s library services, public conveniences, town council office and apartments.
Arch will invest £1.3m to develop the site with a contribution from Newbiggin Town Council.
The development site is located in Front Street, and is currently occupied by the former Railway Inn and the vacant New Dolphin Public House.
The ground floor will accommodate the council’s library services along with an office and public conveniences, and the upper floors will be apartments.
Coun Grant Davey, leader of Northumberland County Council, said: “This building is an exciting development which will benefit Newbiggin and will house superb services including a new library, providing a modern learning and reading environment for local people.
“We listened to concerns and feedback and therefore I hope people take this opportunity to come along and see the revised designs and proposals.”
