Polar Krush, which produces natural iced-drinks, is to invest £1million to purchase new equipment.

The investment will expand the company’s production facility on Wansbeck Business Park in Ashington, creating 12 new jobs in the process.

The plans are supported by a £180,000 Let’s Grow grant, part of the Government’s Regional Growth Fund.

Northumberland development agency Arch supported Polar Krush through the grant process, helping them create a successful application.

Polar Krush’s expansion comes after the company undertook significant research to develop new recipes for its products.

Kieran O’Connor, finance director, said: “We recognised that the market is changing and customers are preferring healthier options so to reflect this, we refreshed our range to include sugar free recipes using natural colours whilst retaining the fantastic natural flavours associated with our brand.

“The new product range and increased production capacity will form a springboard for UK and international sales.”

Over the next 12 months the famous brand, which is exported around the world, will install an additional production line to keep up with increasing demand.

Dave Ledger, chairman of Arch said: “I’m delighted Arch is able to support businesses like Polar Krush to realise their potential and to thrive.”

“Through their forward thinking and innovative perspective, Polar Krush has been able to fuel significant growth which will directly benefit the local economy.”
