A new play park is in full swing after being officially opened in Blyth.
Axwell Drive play area is a joint £75,000 initiative between Northumberland County Council, Blyth Town Council and Active Northumberland.
The area had been in a poor state of repair but has been transformed after funding by county councillor Susan Davey and town councillors Bob and Margaret Parker, through the small schemes fund.
The Axwell Drive play area includes a range of equipment – swings, see-saw, roundabout, climbing units, banana slide and small football are – for all ages including separate play spaces for toddlers and juniors.
Council leader Coun Grant Davey said: “It is wonderful that we have come together to provide this invaluable play area for local youngsters.
“Careful thought has gone into the design of play equipment so it appeals to as many people as possible and it’s a great focal point for the community.
“I’m sure this new facility will be enjoyed by thousands of children and their families, particularly as the nights start to get lighter.”
