A new police office has opened at a hospital in south east Northumberland.
Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (NTW) is looking to strengthen its partnership with Northumbria Police through the new facility at St George’s Park Hospital in Morpeth.
The trust said the office will “continue the excellent work that has been done by the force’s Pc Anthony Pattison and the clinical teams at St George’s Park and Northgate Hospital”, also in Morpeth.
NTW clinical police liaison lead, Claire Andre, said: “Anthony has already made a positive impression on service users who appreciate the help he has offered them during their time with us.
“Working closely with Northumbria Police can also act as a crime deterrent to those who come to the hospital site with the intention of targeting vulnerable people.
“Having Anthony on site is another step to strengthening the partnership Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust has with Northumbria Police, enhancing each other’s knowledge, working closely day to day and ensuring the best outcome for victims of crime.”
The trust added that Anthony, as he is known to service users and staff, offers caring and compassionate support to those who are victims of crime, follows cases through the criminal justice system and provides general crime prevention advice.
He is a member of the Morpeth neighbourhood policing team and also an LGBT liaison officer for Northumbria Police force.
