New posters will be popping up around the borough to promote a key charity and one of its top fundraising events.

Clear Channel have allocated around 100 bus shelters in the region to promote the work of the North of England Children’s Cancer Research (NECCR) and their forthcoming Children’s Cancer Run.

Adverts will be shown over the next three months, with the run promoted in the two weeks leading up to it.

The run, which takes place every year at Gosforth Park in Newcastle, is one of the biggest fun runs in Europe with more than 10,000 runners taking part every year.

Now in it’s 32nd year, the funds raised by the runners who take part support the vital research into the causes of and treatments for children’s cancer, which takes place at the Northern Institute of Cancer Research (NICR) at Newcastle University and the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI).

NECCR vice chairman Jim Richardson said: “We’ve recently rebranded The Children’s Cancer Run with a contemporary look which uses very vibrant colours and imagery that really captures what the charity does and the fun we have raising money for such a good cause.

“It’s wonderful that we can share our new look with everyone across the region thanks to the generous donation of outdoor advertising space from Clear Channel.

“The Children’s Cancer Run is just a couple of months away and we hope that lots of people will see these posters and be inspired – or reminded – to sign up and take part to help us to raise a lot of money for research.”

Emma Newman, marketing director at Clear Channel UK, said: “We are proud to support this amazing charity. The Children’s Cancer run is a brilliant way of raising money for a fantastic cause.

“I’m sure people throughout the north east will want to get involved after seeing the beautiful posters at bus stops throughout the region.”

The Children’s Cancer Run will be held at Newcastle Racecourse, Gosforth Park, on Sunday, May 11.

There is a five-mile cross country run and a one-mile event for under-sevens. Entry is £12 or £6 for under-sevens.
