SHOPPERS in South East Northumberland can meet volunteers of the county’s newest radio station.

The team of presenters and promoters from Ultra Radio will be visiting Morpeth, Blyth, Ashington and Cramlington to let people know how to tune in and what to expect from the station’s broadcasting output.

The station already has a very high profile within the community, attending busy shopping centres, interviewing rock and pop stars and having a major presence at the Cruisefest North East Easter Rally where hundreds of customised cars paraded in Blyth.

And Station Director Simon Ferson is delighted with his team of more than 60 volunteers who have rallied around to make sure everything is just perfect before the launch date.

Simon said: “The spirit of our team is second to none.

“Although we are a community radio station, we have a very professional and commercial approach to our programming which we think will help us build up a strong following.”

Already Ultra Radio has more than 800 followers on its Facebook page which is already rivalling many commercial radio stations even before a single track is played.

“We have something for everyone on the station, from charts to punk, dance to middle of the road and business to gardening, it’s what South East Northumberland wants and indeed deserves – a professional radio station, run by locals for locals,” added Simon.

The Ultra Radio team will be at Market Square in Morpeth on Saturday, May 14.

Then on Saturday, May 21, they will be in Blyth’s Market Place, and the following Saturday, May 28, they will be in Cramlington.
