Dozens of new jobs have been created with the opening of a new store in Blyth.
Poundworld is opening its new store at 10am on Thursday, August 6.
The value retailer has taken over the former Westgate department store, creating 30 new jobs in the process.
Blyth Mayor Coun Margaret Parker will be on hand to officially open the store, the company’s 290th in its chain, while a facepainter will be on hand to entertain children.
Officials at Poundworld say the new store will help breathe new life into the old Westgate store.
There are more than 5,000 products including cleaning, groceries, health and beauty and DIY.
Area manager Adrian McCoy said: “We’re incredibly excited to be bringing a Poundworld store to Blyth, creating 30 local retail jobs to the area.
“Our proposition is simple and there’s no smoke and mirrors – just amazing bargains for £1.”
