Newcastle United fan jailed for punching horse

A Newcastle United fan who punched a police horse after the Newcastle-Sunderland derby earlier this year has been jailed.

Barry Rogerson admitted attacking ‘Bud’ outside St James’ Park after the game between Newcastle United and Sunderland on April 14.

The 45-year-old, of Bedlington, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to a charge of violent disorder and was today (Thursday) jailed for 12 months at Newcastle Crown Court.

Rogerson was also ordered to serve a six-year football banning order.
