NHS teams are happy in their work

NHS staff in Northumberland are some of the happiest in England, according to a national survey for 2014.

Covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS organisation, the 9,000 strong workforce at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is one of the most satisfied in the service.

A total of 94 per cent of staff said they felt their role makes a difference to patients, according to the national NHS Staff Survey for 2014.

Out of all 287 NHS organisations which took part in the questionnaire, Northumbria Healthcare was also the top trust in England for staff feeling able to contribute to improvements at work, working well as a team and having support from immediate managers.

Jim Mackey, chief executive of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Our staff do an amazing job all year round providing high quality, safe and compassionate care for our patients and I would like to thank each and every one of them.

“I am immensely proud of these fantastic staff survey results which show that our teams feel valued, motivated and happy in their work.”
