Northumberland's new civic head
The Labour member for the Pegswood ward took over the role from Coun Kath Nisbet following last week’s annual meeting of the council.
He becomes the seventh holder of the post since the new Northumberland County Council was formed in April 2009.

Hide AdIn his position, Coun Sambrook will carry out many community and ceremonial duties, representing the county council at a large number of events in the region. The position is a one-year appointment.
He said: “It is a great honour to be elected as the new civic head of Northumberland County Council. I’m looking forward to the year ahead and to acting as a champion and ambassador for Northumberland and the council.”
During her 12 months in office, Coun Nisbet raised £10,300 for her chosen charity causes; motor neurone disease and pulmonary fibrosis. Coun Sambrook’s chosen charities this year for are the Children’s Heart Unit at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle and the Northumberland Scout Association.
