Northumbria Police holds first Pride in Policing awards
Northumbria Police's Chief Constable Steve Ashman proudly commended his officers and staff at the first Pride in Policing awards.
The event was held at Newcastle's Discovery Museum last night where around 200 guests attended the ceremony. There were 10 awards up for grabs for officers and staff, including team and individual awards. This is the seventh awards ceremony held by the Force but the first event held at the Discovery Museum under the newly named Pride in Policing awards.
Chief Constable Steve Ashman along with Police and Crime Commissioner Vera Baird took the opportunity to thank all officers and staff who go the extra mile to help keep communities safe.
"As always our officers and staff have been a credit to us and I heard some truly inspirational examples of when they have gone the extra mile in the name of Northumbria Police and in the service of our communities.
"Pride in Policing is not only a celebration for the finalists and winners, it is for every member of our force whose dedication and professionalism continues to help make Northumbria one of the best performing forces in the country and one of the safest places to live and work. All our officers and staff should feel hugely proud of who they are and proud of what they do.
"I also want to take the opportunity to thank our sponsors as without their support, this event would not be possible."
Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner, Vera Baird, said: "These awards give us the opportunity to celebrate some of the most inspirational and dedicated people we’re lucky to have working for our force. Through their hard work and commitment the team of colleagues at Northumbria Police continue to excel in delivering outstanding service for local residents and I want to congratulate and thank this year’s nominees and winners for all they do – they are all very worthy of the praise they received last night."
