Old station is available

Following on from my letter regarding Cramlington Town Council’s proposal to purchase the Surveyor’s House (News Post Leader, September 11), I’ve been thinking further on the issue.

There is currently a derelict fire station in Cramlington with a footprint comfortably big enough for offices, it has plenty of space for parking, is on a number of bus routes and the cycle network and with some considered renovation could be made suitable for meetings, saving more money moving forward.

What is the justification for purchasing a house in Cramlington at a significant cost to the tax payer when there is already a premises that would be more suitable already available?
