Dr Pat Tallantyre, who has died at the age of 73.

She trained to be a doctor at Girton College in Cambridge and while there took part in an overland expedition to India, via Landrover, to research Leprosy.

On returning to the UK she walked the Peninne Way in wellies. Her adventures continued when she moved to Northumberland in 1969 to marry Morpeth art gallery owner Robin Tallantyre.

Pat enjoyed line dancing, swimming, bird watching and learning Italian.

She had a passion for learning and never stopped studying. When time permitted, you would find her outside exploring nature and she loved to walk along the beach at Hauxley.

She spent her life caring for others and it was hard to leave her company without being fed and watered. She loved her family and was very passionate about spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren.

Pat leaves her husband Robin, their children Helen and Martin and six grandchildren.

A remembrance service will be held at St James’s Church in Morpeth tomorrow from 2pm.
