PARKING: No provision for disabled
My father-in-law recently had a stroke impacting on his mobility. In addition, he is registered blind and deaf.
Realising he would have difficulty getting out, especially to his bank, I obtained a disabled parking permit.
Imagine my surprise when on parking outside Lloyd’s bank in Blyth, I was issued with a penalty fine.
For parking for five minutes, I received a £35 fine, if paid immediately.
I would like to thank the gentleman from, I believe, a funeral firm for trying to explain to the traffic warden that we had just arrived and had observed us crossing to the bank, but it was to no avail.
Can I ask the council where disabled people who can only walk a very short distance can park in Blyth main street? Why are there no pull-in bays to assist disabled persons shopping in Blyth?
