A NEW permit allowing residents to park free of charge at selected car parks across the county – including four in Morpeth – is now available.
The new shoppers’ permit costs £15 and is valid for two years, allowing residents to park for free from 9am to 11am and 3pm to 6pm Monday to Saturday and all day on Sundays and bank holidays, subject to normal time limits.
The Morpeth car parks it covers are Stanley Terrace North, Stanley Terrace South, Newmarket East and Newmarket West.
The scheme, open to all residents of Northumberland, aims to reduce traffic congestion and support the county’s economy by encouraging shoppers to use car parks at off-peak times.
It replaces the old Morpeth residents’ parking permit.
