A county woman has raised thousands of pounds to take on a challenging trek to raise funds for a charity close to her heart.
Pat Heard, from Falmouth Walk, Cramlington, will take on the Canadian Rockies to raise money for Newcastle’s Marie Curie Hospice, which cared for her husband two years ago and is now caring for her father.
Pat will be joined by a team of trekkers who will set off from Calgary on September 13 and trek north for five days.
“The two events at The Plough Inn in Cramlington have raised almost £2,500 for the hospice, in no small part thanks to Prelude, who took several encores.
“I would like to thank everyone who has supported me and contributed to my fundraising, and I hope everyone will continue their support as I head off to trek in the Canadian Rockies.”
At Pat’s last fundraising event, councillor John Cole was sponsored to sing Fields of Gold, and Malcolm MacDonald signed a match ball and posed for photographs.
