Pedal power raises impressive total
The Pedalling for a Purpose event that recently took place at Paramount Health and Fitness in Bedlington raised a big total.
Participants were split into teams and throughout the day, each team took part in various exercise sessions – including a lot of time of the indoor spinning bikes.
More than £3,000 has been collected. The money will be given to Age UK Northumberland – it will help to fund the development of the charity’s Friendship Line, which it will launch later this year.
A spokeswoman for Team Paramount said: “We would like to thank everyone that made Pedalling for a Purpose happen.
“This event quite simply would never have happened without everyone who participated. We were overwhelmed by their kindness and generosity.
“Throughout the event, we managed to clock up nearly 1,500 miles on the bikes.
“We would like to say a huge thank you to Joe Dixon, who owns JD Joinery and Building Services in Cramlington, and Morrisons in Bedlington for sponsoring the event, along with Helen Muldoon at The Red Lion Wetherspoon pub in Bedlington for allowing us to use the conservatory area all night for our raffle and auction and the other Bedlington businesses that supported the event.
“We are also very grateful to Karen Taylor for making the cake that was auctioned and we can’t forget about the lovely Susan Simmons who organised all the balloons and the table displays – they were fantastic.”
