Pensioner assaulted in row over car damage

A PENSIONER was assaulted by another motorist in a row over damage to a vehicle.

The victim, in his 70s, was attacked in the car park near Sainsbury’s at Manor Walks Shopping Centre in Cramlington.

The incident – which happened at around noon on Wednesday, May 30 – occurred following a debate over damage to a man’s car.

The elderly victim was assaulted but managed to get in his car and drive away, being left shocked but injured.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the incident, and believe there were a number of people in the car park at the time who may have saw something.

The attacker is described as being white, in his late 30s, 5ft 7ins tall, of a thick set build, with short dark hair and spoke with a local accident.

Officers are urging anyone with any information to come forward.

Witnesses can contact police on 101 ext 69191 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
