The singer and songwriter moved Alnwick in 2007 and, being surrounded by scenic landscapes and meeting so many like-minded people, felt inspired to begin creating an album.

David, 55, said: “I hadn’t written a song in 20 years. Northumberland, the landscape and the people inspired me to start writing again.”

Due to the pandemic, the album ‘Too many moving parts’ took four years to record in Thropton Simpson Street Studios, but the team behind the album are now thrilled to have it completed.

The 10 tracks are all based around David’s life experiences, many of which were inspired by his wife and daughters.

Since the release, the album has had great reviews, one describing the songs as being “beautiful poignant lyrics from the heart”.

David’s music has already been showcased throughout the community as he regularly performed at The Tanners Arms open mic nights. This started in 2007, just shortly after he moved to the area.

The open mic nights, which occur once a month, allowed David to become more confident with his music and allowed him the opportunity to meet other musicians.

As a result of the nights spent singing and drinking ale, David joined a band, Lush Acoustic, who performed all over the county. The band performed for close to 10 years.

In 2012, David released his first album ‘Shortcuts to an ideal world’ which featured several North East artists such as Carl Cape and Kathleen Hawkin.

It achieved glowing reviews and international attention. Orders were shipped as far and wide as Australia, New Zealand, USA and India as well as many countries in Europe.

Singing and performing has always been a passion of David’s, so it has always been a dream to complete albums. As a teenager, he was a lead singer in several bands and performed regularly solo in a choir.

Both albums are now available on all major platforms, including Spotify and iTunes.
