Customers queue for 90 minutes for Good Friday fish and chips
Eager customers queued up for more than 90 minutes before getting their hands on their Good Friday fish and chips.
Social distancing measures were in place at the award-winning Harbour View Fish and Chip Takeaway in Seaton Sluice as people got their traditional takeaway.
Manager Waseem Mir was so impressed with the dedication of his customers that he issued a number of Harbour View T Shirts to the patient queuers.
He said: “We didn’t open until 11.30am but people were waiting before 10am. I’m very grateful to have such loyal customers.”
Harbour View have taken all the necessary Covid-19 related steps to ensure their staff and customers are safe when collecting their fish and chips and went the extra mile for Easter.
Harbour View has traditionally had long queues on Good Friday and last year was the first time in the businesses history that they did not open at Easter due to the pandemic being at its height.
This year however with social distancing procedures in place as well as staff PPE and protective screens, Mr Mir opened with added measures for their customers including staff working outside with the public to manage any excessive queues and taking orders for specially cooked items such as Haddock.
Mr Mir said: “We all enjoy our traditional fish and chips on Good Friday but I want to make sure that we are doing everything we can to make our fish and chips not only the tastiest but also the safest.”
