Masonic bikers delivering 1,500 Easter eggs to good causes across Northumberland

Freemasons in the Northumbria Chapter of the Widows Son’s Masonic Bikers Association have been gifted hundreds of Easter eggs by generous supermarkets, businesses and kind-hearted individuals and masonic lodges from the Province of Northumberland

They are being distributed to special schools, food banks, care homes, veterans’ charities and youth centres across the county, as well as North Tyneside and Newcastle.

The bikers, who are travelling in small groups and observing strict Covid-19 regulations, are expecting to deliver more than 1,500 Easter eggs leading up to Good Friday.

Widows Son’s secretary, Tom Stewart , said: “Everyone has been so generous and I’m really grateful for the help we’ve been given by so many businesses, lodges and individuals but particular thanks must go to a host of Morrison’s stores who have been really eggscellent.”

So far, around 800 eggs have been delivered to the following good causes: Leading Link Bedlington, Cleaswell Hill Special School Choppington, Hadston House Youth Project, Baccmans Lynemouth, Full Circle Foodbank Ashington, Wansbeck Food Bank, Operation Elf Blyth, Engage in the Community Blyth.

Cllr Scott Dickinson, of Hadston House, said: “These will be going out to older people in the community on our meals on wheels service. We are very grateful.”

Teacher Lauren Caisley, from Cleaswell Hill School, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to Northumberland Freemasons for the donation of 200 eggs for each of our children.”
