A Youth Activities Showcase (YAS) is being held to highlight the organisations that work with the 11 to 19 age group.

Organised by Cramlington Town Council and Active Northumberland in partnership with Manor Walks and other agencies, there will be a displays and information points to promote what is available in the town as well as demonstrations by some groups.

It is taking place on Monday, September 2, between 11am and 3pm, within Manor Walks and Concordia.

More than 50 youth organisations that work with the target age group will be on hand to tell residents who they are and what they do.

Cramlington Town Council clerk Bob Baker said: "The positivity behind this showcase is to be applauded – so often young people are referred to in a negative light. This event will highlight the many activities and organisations that work with older youths in Cramlington."

Victoria Malloy, from Manor Walks, said: "We are delighted to offer our support to this event and hope that lots of people come and see what is being done for the younger members of the Cramlington community."

Phil Evans, from Active Northumberland, said: "There will be a range of activities at Concordia Leisure Centre to link in to the youth showcase and it's great to see young people actively demonstrating the many good things they do."
