Special celebrations for Ashington centenarian
Celebrations were in full swing at an Ashington care home as a resident reached her centenary in style.
Station Court Care Home resident Bet Smith and friends at the home went back to the 1950s with all staff members dressed for the occasion.
Music played from her favourite era and dancing at a socially distanced garden party.
When asked what the secret to long life is, Bet said: “A big family, laughter and a tipple of Baileys each night!”
The staff at the home organised for her relatives to visit safely adhering to social distancing guidelines to the delight of all.
Among those relatives visiting was her daughter Valerie who said: “You have gone out of your way for us.
"We all do appreciate your time and patience to enable mam to have a brilliant day.
"A massive thank you for all you have done, for making her day special.
"You are all total stars, you have been fantastic.”
Ray Robson, General Manager of Barchester Station Court Care Home, added: “We’re delighted to be celebrating a truly remarkable woman as she reaches this amazing milestone.
"Bet is such a popular resident who always has an interesting tale to tell, and we look forward to hearing many more as she breaks into her next century.”
