Two developments creating new homes for Blyth

Dozens of new sea view properties have gone on sale while work starts on affordable homes elsewhere in Blyth.

Award winning housebuilder, Ascent Homes, has launched their sea view plots at the long-awaited Commissioners Quay development in Blyth

Initial construction work began in 2019 with the sales cabin launching late September 2020, with of the 41 new homes, the ‘Serenity’ house type has now been released for sale, with the show home anticipated to be ready in August.

As well as the three-bedroom Serenity, the site features a further two house types – the two bedroom Oasis and three bedroom Liberty.

Elsewhere, The Castles & Coasts Housing Association (CCHA) has launched its new development creating affordable new homes in Blyth.

It was launched by Andrea Taylor, Homes England’s Senior Manager, and Jason Wylie, Managing Director of Imperator Developments, who joined CCHA’s Property Services Director, Rob Brittain, to celebrate the construction of the affordable rented properties in Newsham.

Work has started on the development, which received the go ahead from Northumberland County Council in February.

Imperator Developments will deliver construction of the housing scheme which is made up of 27 homes, with a mix of two bedroom bungalows and two and three bedroom housest.

Rob Brittain, CCHA’s Property Services Director, said: “We’re delighted to be able to bring this exciting, high quality new development to Blyth.

"100% of the new homes on the scheme will be available for affordable rent to local people and those who have a connection to the area, with an eligible housing need.

“Although today has marked the official launch of works on site, excellent progress has already been made and I’d like to thank Homes England and Imperator Developments for working with us on this scheme, which ensures that local people are given the opportunity to remain in a community in which they have grown up in.”

CCHA’s Development Manager, Jo Gooding, added: “We are really excited about the first homes being completed and occupied by local people.

"This whole project has been designed to not only provide excellent homes, but to also help create and develop a strong sense of pride and community.”

The first homes are expected to be completed by Spring 2022. Applications for the homes will be via Northumberland Homefinder.

Andrea Taylor, Senior Manager at Homes England, said: We’re delighted that this funding enables CCHA to deliver much needed new homes in Blyth.”
