Customers of Pets At Home in Cramlington, as part of their Christmas Santa Paws appeal, raised a magnificent total of £4,675.50.
Staff from the Westmorland Retail Park store handed a cheque over to SHAK (Safe Homes and Kindness) a Northumberland charity which saves and rehabilitates dogs who are destined to be destroyed.
SHAK has come a long way since it was founded by Stephen Wylie in 2006 after the death of his dog and best friend Shak.
Today the charity has approximately 70 dogs in its care, offering sanctuary to the ones that really need it or a place to simply become a dog again for others.
Working only with destruction cases from vets, strays and dogs from trusted charity partners, SHAK does not take in dogs from members of the public.
